In the interest of health and safety related to COVID-19, the University of Minnesota Bookstores will close all retail stores on the Twin Cities, Crookston, Morris and Rochester campuses effective March 18, 2020 until further notice.

The University of Minnesota Bookstores are committed to continuing to serve the needs of our students, staff, faculty and campus partners during reduced operations. We will be working behind the scenes to fulfill online orders, offer course material support, and provide virtual customer service at bookstores.umn.edu

Online Service

We are happy to assist our customers. Many of our products are available online at bookstores.umn.edu. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Please send us an email via our contact page. A member of our team will respond as soon as possible. Please note while we are in reduced operations our response and delivery times may be delayed. Thanks for your understanding.

Course Support

As you transition to online learning rest assured our course materials team is ready to help you. Our experienced buyers are working with the faculty and publishers to ensure you have access to the materials you need to continue your studies. In addition, the University of Minnesota Bookstores is offering free shipping on all textbook orders so your students can access the print materials they need as well.

During this time, we are waiving the shipping charges on all textbook orders.

All textbooks will ship for free during this time. Please note, our system will reflect shipping charges when the order is placed, but our team will automatically remove them.

Digital Textbooks

Cengage

We are here to help you and your students at the UMN. Reference the information below about the free access Cengage is offering as well as a recorded webinar from one of our faculty partners about moving courses online. Cengage is offering complimentary access to you and your students to any of our eBooks and courseware solutions and CengageUnlimited (MindTap, WebAssign, Owlv2, etc..) for the rest of the semester. If this is something that you are interested in, please reach out to Cengage so we can schedule a training and we get your courses set up to offer this solution. You can access many on-demand trainings, quick start guides, how-to videos at our training website located at www.cengage.com/training .

Norton

We are making all Norton Ebooks (titles that have eBooks), and most of our companion media free to adopters and non-adopters thru June 12.

Pearson

RedShelf

Through our RedShelf Responds initiative, we’re providing free access to digital textbooks (to students from nonprofit, semester-based colleges and universities) through May 25 thanks to the generosity of our publishing partners. VitalSource

VitalSource, one of our online textbook providers, is offering free access to ebooks for students at identified semester-calendar institutions through May 25, 2020. While over 100 leading publishers have made ebooks available through this program, courseware and titles from non-participating publishers aren’t included. Students can get started using this service today at bookshelf.vitalsource.com by logging in with their institution-provided email address. Each account can access up to seven titles. VitalSource, one of our online textbook providers, is offering free access to ebooks for students at identified semester-calendar institutions through May 25, 2020. Events

We’re following the guidelines of the CDC and cancelling our in-store and campus events through April. Whenever possible we will make featured event products available online for you. Watch our website, follow our social channels or subscribe to our emails for updates on key events including book buy, rental returns and commencement.
