Local author and University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management career coach will discuss his book, Building Up Without Tearing Down, at the University of Minnesota Bookstores at Coffman Memorial Union on Tuesday, September 25 at 4:00 p.m.

Building Up Without Tearing Down was inspired by Ellsworth’s past professional experiences and includes lessons he shares with his students - including how inhibiting organizations impact individuals who work for them, and how you can find agency at the workplace.

Local author and former University of Minnesota professor of Religious Studies Dr. Cal Roetzel will discuss his book, I Knew We Wuz Poor: Coming of Age on an Arkansas Farm in the Great Depression, at the University of Minnesota Bookstores at Coffman Memorial Union on Thursday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m.

I Knew We Wuz Poor is a recounting by Dr. Calvin of his own childhood memories. Using stories, original poetry, and sketches, Roetzel gives his account of his developing years in the environment of the Great Depression and WWII.

Local author Maureen Aitken will read excerpts from her book The Patron Saint of Lost Girls. Joining her will be author and U of M lecturer Gary E Peter reading from his book Oranges: Stories at the University of Minnesota Bookstores at Coffman Memorial Union on Wednesday, November 7 at 4:00 p.m.

The Patron Saint of Lost Girls is a fictional work about main character Mary’s resilience in the face of economic struggle, addiction, and injustice. Oranges: Stories is a fictional work about Michael Dolin, a gay man navigating the Midwest social structures and gender expectations.
